Before a meet
Coaches prepare line-up sheets assigning swimmers to events (posted on the Events tab). To be entered, you must commit to the meet so the coach can enter you. Line-up deadlines: Tuesday meets are due Sunday, Thursday meets due Tuesday, Saturday meets due Thursday.
Day of meet
Swimmers arrive 1 hour before the start. Evening meets: check-in 4:30 PM, warm-ups 4:45 PM, start 5:30 PM. Morning meets: check-in 7:30 AM, warm-ups 7:45 AM, start 8:30 AM. Sign in by highlighting your swimmer's name on the line-up clipboards ("positive check-in"). Swimmers not checked in within 30 minutes of the start are scratched.
During the meet
Parents make sure their swimmer is in the team area and ready. The Clerk of Course lines swimmers up and walks them to the blocks but won't go looking for them. It's the swimmer's job to get to the bullpen on time. Three timers per lane record times; the middle time is official. (Huntington's 20-yard times are converted by a factor of 1.3.) Runners take timing sheets and DQ cards to the scoring office.
Scoring
Individual events: 1st - 5 pts, 2nd - 3 pts, 3rd - 2 pts, 4th - 1 pt (top 2 swimmers per team score, regardless of heat - 2019 rule). Relays: 1st - 8 pts, 2nd - 4 pts (one relay per team scores). All heats compete for ribbons, which go in swimmer folders for pickup at the next practice. Results post in the Events tab after the meet.
